About

Who are we?

Teacher’s Pet Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit 501 (c)3 animal sanctuary, founded in 2020 and located in Rochester, NY.  We are home to a variety of small animals that come to us needing refuge and respite. There are a variety of reasons an animal may end up in our care including: animals found as a stray, people needing to rehome the animal due to allergies or significant life events, or for behavioral reasons. Here at Teacher’s Pet Animal Sanctuary the animals rest comfortably knowing that they are loved and cared for. They have peace and stability, as this will be their forever home for the remainder of their lives!

We also bring some animals into schools where the students learn how to properly care for the animals while also developing their own leadership skills. The animals also provide a calming opportunity for students who need a break. In addition, students are able to read to the animals as a way to help develop their reading skills. Teacher’s Pet Animal Sanctuary also works to educate the community about responsible pet ownership.

In addition to providing our animals with a life of comfort and happiness, our goal is to also put smiles on peoples’ faces and to share the joy that the animals give us with our community. We do this by bringing some of our animals into nursing homes for the residents to interact with by holding, petting, and brushing the animals.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide animals a safe and comfortable place to live out the remainder of their lives in happiness. At Teacher’s Pet Animal Sanctuary, we are committed to educating our community on proper animal care. With Teacher’s Pet Animal Sanctuary, animals are brought to schools where the students learn how to properly care for those animals, take the lead in the animal care, and teach other students how to properly care for the animals. Our animals will live in spacious enclosures at the sanctuary with their friends and receive daily enrichment and love.
